It all began in the 1980s with just a few moulds. Today, the partnership between GRIMME and RIS has grown into a much larger production operation with weekly deliveries.
Founded in 1861 in Damme, Germany, GRIMME began as a family-run blacksmith’s forge. The father of the current owner, Franz Grimme senior, developed the first machines for harvesting potatoes. This marked the beginning of the GRIMME Agricultural Machinery Factory in the Lower Saxony town of Damme. Over the years, the company has evolved into a full-liner in potato, beet and vegetable technology. Today, the familiar red machines are used in more than 120 countries worldwide.
At the modern production facilities in Damme and Rieste, GRIMME manufactures not only machines for tillage, planting and sowing, crop care and harvesting but also sieving webs and conveyor belts, sold by subsidiary RICON. The GRIMME Group employs more than 2,400 people worldwide.
