The collaboration between RIS Rubber and Emerson started small but quickly expanded into something much larger. Today, weekly shipments from RIS are sent to Emerson’s global locations.

RIS Rubber produces a wide variety of rubber seals for Emerson’s Keystone valves. The collaboration began with a small number of product groups, which have since grown to encompass a complete range of seals. Over time, the partnership with companies within the Emerson Group has also expanded significantly. Each week, RIS Rubber ships products from Lelystad to Emerson locations worldwide, with Emerson operating 200 sites globally. Additionally, our Hofland facility in Tolbert now produces for Emerson as well, cutting various packings from sheet material.

LARGE & SMALL SEALS

The many rubber seals we produce come in a wide range of sizes and rubber types. The smallest seal RIS Rubber makes measures Ø25 mm, while the largest is Ø1,200 mm. We manufacture the smaller seals using our injection moulding machines, as this method is fast and efficient. It is particularly suited for large-volume production. For larger products, we switch to our compression moulding machines, which offer more space and the ability to work with larger moulds.

In a variety of rubber compounds

MARKET-LEADING CUSTOM SEALS

Since Emerson’s Keystone valves are used in a wide range of applications, we manufacture the seals in many different compounds. A large number of seals are made from EPDM, NBR and FKM, with specific formulations available for each type, such as white NBR or certified EPDM. Due to the variety of rubber types, we use separate moulds for some rubber grades and diameters to compensate for the shrinkage differences in the rubber. The seals are highly precise and must meet exact dimensions. If they do not meet specifications, the valve may leak or become difficult to close due to excessive resistance. The technical teams at RIS and Emerson have collaborated to develop compound compositions that deliver market-leading sealing performance and durability. For every application, we create a tailored product using the right rubber compound and grade.

SEALS WITH METAL

In addition to solid rubber seals, we also produce seals with metal reinforcement for vacuum applications. We also rubber-coat large metal bodies ranging from Ø40 mm to Ø1,200 mm, primarily used for water supply and drainage in large construction projects. These metal bodies can weigh up to 750 kilograms and spend up to six hours in our moulding machines during the rubber coating process.

A DYNAMIC COLLABORATION

The wide range of products offered by Emerson also requires RIS Rubber to maintain an extensive range of machinery with various technologies. Thanks to our colleagues at Hofland Rubber who have CNC cutting tables, we can also supply packings, enabling us to serve the customer even better.
