RIS and Lubo Recycling Solutions have been collaborating since the 1990s. What began with a small screening star has evolved over the years into the production of no fewer than 50 different screening stars, with more to come.

Lubo Recycling Solutions, based in Emmen and part of the Bollegraaf Group, is a supplier of waste sorting and recycling systems and an expert in the field. They are world leaders in air separation and screening technology, thanks to their extensive experience and knowledge. This company is capable of developing, delivering and maintaining top-tier recycling solutions. Many of the machines produced at Lubo are fitted with screening stars. These rubber screening stars are supplied by RIS Rubber and are manufactured in various shapes, materials and sizes.

HOW A SCREENING STAR WORKS

Lubo offers a variety of sorting techniques. The STARSCREEN® technology involves the use of rubber stars mounted on shafts. The screening fraction of these machines is determined by the size of the stars, the distance between them and their rotational speed. Waste is dumped onto the stars, and while larger fractions are carried along the surface, smaller items fall between the stars, landing on a conveyor belt. This method allows for fast and accurate size-based waste separation, resulting in efficient recycling. This technique is suitable for a wide range of waste types, and Lubo offers an extensive selection of rubber screening stars. The smallest rubber screening star produced by RIS has a diameter of Ø146 mm, while the largest screening star measures Ø880 mm.

Striving for perfection

SCREENING STARS FOR EVERY SORTING TECHNIQUE

Through close collaboration between our engineers, the optimal rubber screening stars can be identified for each type of waste stream. Separating plastics requires a different screening star than separating paper, glass or construction debris. Together, we work to find the perfect solution.

A PARTNERSHIP THAT CONTINUES TO GROW

The partnership between Lubo and RIS Rubber began in the 1990s. At that time, the technology was new, and Lubo started with a small screening star of Ø165 mm. Over the years, the machines and stars grew larger, and new applications were discovered. Both companies expanded, strengthening their collaboration.
Over the past 30 years, numerous moulds have been developed, enabling us to produce more than 50 different screening stars for Lubo. With the ongoing advancements in the industry and the increasing importance of efficient material recycling, we are confident that many more variants will be developed in the future.
