We don’t sit still at RIS Rubber. Once again, an expansion is being added to our machine park to meet growing demand. RIS Rubber produces more and more large products, and the demand for these is growing faster than the current machinery can handle. With the arrival of this giant of a press, we can keep up with this demand.

Information about the press
This is a Pan Stone compression press that weighs almost 80 tonnes. This is quite a lot of weight for a regular factory floor… To install the press, we had a new foundation made consisting of:
- 6 piles
- 600kg of reinforcement steel
- 4000 litres of concrete
The press is equipped with a very large heating surface; 2.5m by 2.5m. This heating plate can be moved out of the press. And with a clamping force of no less than 800 tonnes, we can meet many requests.

Installation of the new press
Preparations for installation were completed. Holes were drilled, these were fitted with 6 piles, hollow piles that were then filled with reinforcement and concrete. Above this came a foundation slab, again fitted with quite a bit of reinforcement.
The press arrived in 4 trucks from England. Assembly of the press took place outside. Most parts of the press were made of cast iron, which could only be lifted using cranes. It took Jan van Dam’s men three days to do this.
Then it was time to drive the press into place. For this, a rail was placed with 4 column cranes on it. These 4 powerhouses drove the press in millimetre by millimetre. Lowering the press was a precision job and was done under the watchful eye of many spectators.
After installation, the press is fitted with a crane track system and large platform all around. This will give operators enough space while working. This step is being carried out as we speak. After the platform, the finishing touches will follow and the press will be properly adjusted. The press is expected to be commissioned in September.
